Home Team Advantage
It’s playoff hockey time. Being a Leafs fan I have little to cheer about…and that’s not just this year, unfortunately. However, being a Canadian I still have a deep love for playoff hockey. Tonight I am watching a game and it strikes me how valuable home-team advantage is. Having a crowd of people behind what you are doing 100%, cheering you on in your every move.
In business, doesn’t the level of performance rise when we have others in the organization cheering us on? Sure it does! It is human nature to perform better and with more intensity when we know others are watching, encouraging us on. On every organizational team I have been a part of, when the whole team is behind you or working with you, and there are others in the organization cheering you on and celebrating your successes, the morale rises to new heights…and so does performance.
Think about the team you are a part of. Look for teams within your organization. Start cheering them on. Encourage them and celebrate their successes. People will thrive around you and the culture of your organization will transform with a whole new life. Give your team the advantage…your business will soar because of it!
