After Vacation…Comes Reality!
Well, they say all good things must come to an end. And so it is with my 2008 summer vacation. I had the pleasure of visiting Washington DC, New York City, Long Island, Rhode Island, and Maine. I arrived home tonight refreshed mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Everyone needs to take two weeks off. I think three in a row is an even better plan (though I have only accomplished this twice in my 18-year career). It is especially important for the small business owner…but probably more difficult for you and I than anyone in the corporate sphere. Two weeks with no phone calls, no e-mails (OK, a few but they were for customer service), no blogging, no Facebook, almost no Twitter, very little news, very little TV, and very little stress. I think that this rejuvenates ones work passion and creativity. Most of all it is important for your family and for your personal work-life balance.
Sadly, my Blackberry tells me there are over 200 e-mails waiting so with tomorrow comes reality. The challenge will be to not let the state of refreshing wear off in the first couple of hours back on the job.
Thanks to you my loyal readers…the blogging resumes now and I have lots of great ideas to share in the coming weeks…stay tuned!
