The Power of Your Point
I have been designing several presentations over the past few weeks and have numerous more forthcoming in the next few months. Presentations to potential customers, presentations to clients, and presentations where I am the keynote speaker. It is a lot of work creating effective and impacting presentations. That said, presentations have become an important staple of today’s business environment and with them come the dreaded “PowerPoint” slides. The reason they are so dreaded is that they are all too often poorly crafted.
There are entire courses, books, and web sites that will help you learn presentation etiquette. However, I came across a video presentation on TED that I think illustrates a creative integration of slides into a presentation. The presentation is by Larry Lessig who is a Stanford professor. He did this presentation in March 2007. I am not recommending the content, I would just encourage you to watch a few minutes of the presentation and notice how he has created his slides. If you and I could craft a presentation that was more along these lines…I thing we would absolutely captivate our audience!
What do you think about his use of slides?
