Why Twitter

By David Tonen • December 2nd, 2008

I know that many of you reading my articles are still very weary about or uncertain of Twitter.  I will say again that from the outside looking in, this technology can seem like a waste of time.  I know, I felt that way too at first.  However, you have to engage with Twitter and build a community through it for amazing things to happen.  It is indeed a community – make no mistake.

I want you to think about that as you link over and read this article by Human3rror (John). He has written a post that you have to read so you can see the value that Twitter can bring when the community is developed and nurtured.  His post is How Twitter Scored me a Couch and More.  Read and learn!  Simply brilliant!

Well I don’t have one of those great stories to tell about Twitter, but I can confirm that you build a community, and dare I say relationships within that community.

I follow David as MI_Integrity on Twitter. Can’t remember who followed who first, but it’s has been positive and beneficial for me.

Thanks Tim! What amazes me is that this technology is connecting people around the world who have similar interests. Community does grow over time, and we get glimpses into each others lives and interests. I love how Twitter makes the world a smaller and more personal place! I appreciate that you are one of my Twitter Associates!

David, it is amazing. Someone cannot truly describe Twitter and the community it builds. The only real way of understanding Twitter is to jump in and try it out.

I do love human3rror’s story, though. Very cool and some great inspiration. Thanks for the post.
