What Happens When A Virus Attacks

Well, when you read a title like this, one’s mind almost always goes to a computer virus.  Computer viruses are indeed bad…but physical viruses are equally disruptive.  This has been a long week for me personally as I was hit at the beginning of the week with a nasty stomach virus.  I couldn’t keep any food in my system at all!  I went over two days without eating any solid food but began to turn the corner today.  It’s great to eat again!

That of course explains why I have not been posting this week.  Sorry to be offline but now you know where I went!  When you become active in a social network however things still happen…even when you are “offline”:

Blog Limp

I noticed that (not surprisingly), when you don’t post on your blog for 4 days in a row your daily readership drops.  Mine decreased by more than 50% each day.  Observation…when you blog,  the community you write for becomes loyal but they typically only come by when they are alerted that there is new content.  As far as I can tell, roughly 75% of the regular traffic to this blog is subscribed via an RSS reader.

Content Lives!

I was contacted by managers of two other blogs that have become part of my social network via Twitter.  Mike Holmes of Repair the Breach connected with me to re-post my Marketing Jesus article which was a response to the recent Christianity Today article of the same title.  You can see the repost here...

Milo Curtis at the NeoPraxis blog contacted me and asked me to be a guest blogger next week.  I am excited about this opportunity and will let you know when the post goes online there next Friday.

I am so honoured that these two fine gentlemen would think so highly to invite me to be a part of their community. Thanks Mike and Milo…M & M! :-)

Letter to The Editor

Two thumbs up to Christianity Today for being “tuned in” on social media.  I was contacted today by one of the magazine’s Assistant Editor’s asking if I would condense my blog post response to their Marketing Jesus article into a letter to the editor for next month’s edition.  Certainly I will!  I give this maneuver kudos because so many organizations today are still disconnected from or choose to ignore the conversations going on online about them.  I am proud to see a Christian publication working without their head in the sand.  Glad to know you are listening Christianity Today!

That’s the update for today.  I’ll be back to regular posting tomorrow!  Here’s to eating and enjoying it!
