Rapping Up Your Message
One of the biggest challenges for small businesses is to capture the attention of their target customers amidst all the noise of bigger competitors trying to reach the same audience. This is increasingly difficult when you have similar products, services, or messaging. So, how do you deliver a message most people have heard many times before in a way that makes them take notice? Well, you have to dig deep to leverage creativity. It helps to have someone approach your messaging from a different perspective.
I could write more to drive the point home, but I came across this video that was posted on YouTube a couple days ago and it will make the point better than I ever could with words…
This is a Southwest Airlines flight attendant going through the the traditional welcome and safety pre-flight announcement. We have all heard this same message every time we fly…however, how many times doe we actually pay attention and listen…almost never. This attendant came at it from a different perspective. He got “everyone’s attention” and he got them participating. Everyone on board was engaged with the message, everyone “got it”, most who were present will never forget it, and best of all they will talk about it…telling their friends what happened on their Southwest Airlines flight. On top of that, whether sanctioned by Southwest or not, this YouTube video will have a positive viral marketing impact for the company that will connect with people better than any multi-million dollar commercial ever could.
Make you message stand out and present it uniquely…and you will stand out from the same-old-same-old messaging of your competition!
What are your thoughts about leveraging creativity in marketing? What did you think about this video?
