“Geeks and God” Talk Twitter
I discovered a new-to-me online resource site today called Geeks and God. This site is self described as follows:
“Geeks & God has grown and changed over the years. But, everything revolves around one idea: Helping and encouraging Christian ministries to use technology more effectively in order to spread the Gospel in new and innovative ways.”
I am amazed it has taken me so long to stumble across these guys but that is exactly what happened. Ah, the beauty of the web. Anyway, I listened to one of their podcasts this evening – and old one in some ways as it was recorded last September. The show is called Twitter & Ministry. The front half (first 30 minutes ish) of this 1 hour plus podcast was a little too “geek” for this marketing guy, but from the 35 minute mark and on they discuss Twitter. The guys (Rob Feature and Matt Farina) did a great job providing an introductory framework on what exactly Twitter is and what some of its ministry applications could be.
Since I am almost daily being asked to explain Twitter, I think this is the best introduction I have heard. Twitter is now in the traditional media spotlight so people are hearing about it more in mainstream discussion and wanting to know what it is, how, and why it should be applied to ministry.
If you are interested in learning about Twitter, this is a great place to start. Thanks Geeks and God!
