Story 42
Today, June 7, 2009 is my 42nd birthday
I typically don’t blog on Sundays nor do I typically share much personal stuff here. However tonight, as I reflect on today and reflect on my life I feel that a new chapter is emerging. Thought you might like a glimpse.
This morning I went to my church where my friend Jon was speaking to fill in for our pastor who was on vacation. The message was loud and clear that we each have a story that is unique and reserved only for us. My story, as a Christian is my undeniable, passionate, biblical, authoritative, representation of what God has done in my life, to me, and through me that I must always be prepared to share whenever given the chance. My story is important.
I am very blessed:
- I have a definite purpose to my life because of what Jesus has done for me and the relationship I have with Him.
- I have a great marriage and am best friends with my wife Shelly. Thirteen awesome years of marriage and counting!
- I have a phenomenal place to live here on the edge of the Atlantic ocean. Tonight with a full moon shining off a dead calm harbour I am struck with awe at the beauty of it – amazing indeed!
- I have my health – physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
- I have had a great career and have had many opportunities to keep learning. I love technology!
- A wall of fear I have battled with for the past few years has recently been broken down. Now I can move forward with confidence, security, and anticipation.
- I love kayaking!

There is a new chapter emerging
I realized today that I am pretty much at the 1/2 way point of my career if you measure 65 as the age of retirement (not sure we ever retire as Christians but you get the point). This means I am in prime time. Old enough to have a respectable amount of life and career experience and still young, bold, and crazy enough to lead and charge forward with reckless abandon.
Let the next chapter of my story begin. Thank you God – lead me on!
