The Church IS The People
Remember the rhyme you learned as a kid…
Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people.
We have become programmed to believe the “the church” is the building. That rhyme (as my pastor pointed out on Sunday) is wrong. It should be…
Here is a church, it has a steeple, open the doors…the church is the people.
Let’s remember when we are marketing our church…people don’t come to church and experience life change because of your building. They experience life change because people invest in them, help them connect with God, and they develop a saving life-changing personal relationship with Jesus.
When we do church marketing we are to focus on connecting people with Jesus and to a community of people. Keep the building out of it.
What do you think? How often does church marketing focus on the building rather than relationship and community?
