Technology and Vacation: Random Thoughts

By David Tonen • July 15th, 2009

Just arrived home from a 15-day vacation to the Pacific Northwest tonight.  Feels great to have had the break.  Thought I would share a few thoughts/reflections with you:

Wireless

Much to my surprise we had wireless Internet access at 14 out of 15 nights on the road.  Only once did I pay for access.  I knew we would be “wired” on the journey but even this exceeded my expectations.  Even the smallest of motels were “with-it”.  Awesome!

GPS

I need a GPS.

Social Media

Facebook + Digital Camera = social media integrated vacation.

Signage

I was surprised negatively at how poor most communities are with their signage.  When you are a visitor you need to be told where to go!

Conclusion

Had a wonderful visit, a great adventure, and am well rested.   Sad it’s over.  Glad to be home…there is no place like home.  More on church marketing tomorrow.  I feel inspired!
