Twitter: The Greatest Leadership Tool Ever Invented

By David Tonen • June 24th, 2010

Got your attention?

During an interview (below), which I discovered on a blog post of one of my new Twitter connections Don Miller (no, not the famous author), Michael Hyatt (CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers) says:

“I think Twitter is maybe the greatest leadership tool ever invented.”

Michael is an extremely busy leader who makes time in his daily schedule to blog and use Twitter.  I know from personal experience that he uses Twitter as a conversation tool, not just a microphone.  I have never met Michael, yet I follow him on Twitter and he follows me.  I once sent him a personal, direct message and he did respond personally to me.  Understand that he has over 78,000 followers!  So, how does a leader use Twitter and why does Michael think it is the greatest leadership tool ever invented?

Take a couple minutes and watch the interview,  You’ll learn the secret that made Twitter work for him and you’ll walk away with a whole new perspective on how to leverage social media as a Christian leader:

It amazes me that some people still hesitate to use twitter. Especially when they have great role models who are using it effectively. I had the same experience with Michael Hyatt and I love the leadership quote!

Hey Don, great to have you as a Twitter associate! People fear what they don't know and sadly, they make judgements on things they have not tried. Not all things are as they first appear. The real jewels of Twitter only become evident when you give it a fair try.

Don,
I have also seen a lot of pastors not use social media. Some leaders and pastors just don't get the power of it or think its not for the church. Which is sad.
