<p>It has been a busy time over the past few months and finding time for blogging has indeed been a challenge. It certainly has not been due to not having something to say or not wanting to!  One of my side-projects has been a new magazine that I have been involved with.  A group of us felt felt there was a need for a magazine that would encourage Christians to live out their faith in the workplace.  So, we have launched a Christian business magazine called <em><strong><a title="Christian Business Magazine" href="http://integritymagazine.ca/" target="_blank">Integrity</a></strong></em>.</p>
<p>The first edition is now published in print and digital format. I welcome you to take a look and provide me with any feedback. I welcome it all!  And at the same time I want your response on this question&#8230;given our curent culture and media spectrum, are magazines still relevant today?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I came across this interesting video (embedded below) which was a <a href="http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/cameron_herold_let_s_raise_kids_to_be_entrepreneurs.html" target="_blank">TED Talk at TEDxEdmonton</a> by Cameron Herold.</p>
<p>The talk doesn&#8217;t have anything specifically to do with church marketing, but the principles will get you thinking.  Cameron shares some of the entrepreneurial skills he developed as a child and what I like about it is that there are some very creative aspects for church leaders to consider when thinking through how they can &#8220;connect&#8221; with people in their communities.  There are also some great principles that he suggests that as a parent you could encourage in your child.  I think there is value here and worth the time to take in:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I realize that not everyone has an iPhone (though I think they should). A new service launched this week for the iPhone (internationally) called Viber.  It is a free downloadable app that allows iPhone users to call other iPhone users (anywhere in the world) for free.  It works</p>
<ul>
<li>Viber lets you make free phone calls to other Viber users</li>
<li>It&#8217;s just like Skype, but with no need to add contacts or ask for ID&#8217;s</li>
<li>With Viber, everyone&#8217;s phone number is their ID</li>
</ul>
<p>So, when you setup the app, it asks for your cell number and then sends you an activation access code by SMS Text Message. You enter the code and presto &#8211; it is installed. It asks to access your address book just so that it can pair up (on your phone) the people in your contacts list that also have Viber.  Then you can call them or they can call you (via VOIP &#8211; Internet phone) at any time. The other advantage is that anyone who has your number and has an iPhone can call you &#8211; so you could use it for business tool free.  Again, the current restriction is that it is iPhone to iPhone but apparently, they are working on an Android version.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It was one-year ago today that I got my iPhone 3GS &#8211; my first iPhone.</p>
<p>I have had a cell phone for what seem like forever but the iPhone has changed the way I use a cell.  It is so much more than a phone.  When meeting with clients I will often not even boot up my laptop &#8211; I can do almost everything I need to on my iPhone.  In fact I seldom use it as a phone&#8230;e-mail, texts, web, and all the apps &#8211; it has become an indispensable tool in my daily life.</p>

<p>Now is the time.</p>
<p>I am by nature a procrastinator.  Many of you can relate.  I have had to put those some-days to the side.  I have tried new things and learned much in the process.  Now it is your turn.  Try something new today.  Not tomorrow, today.  Please &#8211; do it for you!</p>
